Dr. Anthony Smatt
Dr. Smatt was born on the island of Jamaica. In Jamaica, he worked with a local veterinarian, who was a large influence in Dr. Smatt’s decision to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. “The feeling I get when helping animals is what keeps me driven in this profession. This feeling is what first put me on the path to becoming a veterinarian.” Dr. Smatt graduated Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. He worked in a small animal/exotics veterinary practice before switching to emergency medicine in 2006. Dr. Smatt met his wife in veterinary school and together they raised their three children in Monroe, NY.
Tanya was raised in Rockland County and moved to Orange County with her four cats and two dogs “Morgan” and “Slate” in 2012. Tanya graduated The Nash Academy of Animal Arts in 1996 with a degree in dog grooming, and is currently grooming part time. Tanya’s love for animals started at the age of 16 while doing volunteer work at a local animal shelter. In her spare time, Tanya likes to swim and hike with her dogs, garden, and just enjoy those lazy days hanging out with the family. There was no doubt that joining the staff at The Pets I Love Veterinary Hospital was a perfect fit.
Traci was born and raised in Monroe, NY and is currently raising her daughter Hannah here. She has been in the veterinary field for 10 years. She graduated from SUNY Orange with an associates in biology. She has also taken courses in zoology, biology, and veterinary technology. She aspires to finish her zoology degree in the hopes pursuing her passion of animal husbandry and wildlife conservation. Once completing her degree, instead of just rescuing stray cats, she will be able to rescue their larger brethren… tigers! She recently acquired a kitten, Leo, who she bottle fed and hand raised from the time he was 4 days old. In addition she adopted our hospital cat Jasmine. Jasmine has become Queen of her home, just as she was the Queen of The Pets I Love. She’s always looking to take in an animal in need and is teaching her daughter the same compassion.
Jenny began working at The Pets I Love in September 2014. She has loved animals for as long as she can remember. Since she was 14, Jenny has been working in veterinary medicine. She has worked in hospitals from Orange County, NY to Oswego County, NY. This gave her the opportunity to gain valuable experience and technique. She is currently a student of Bergen Community College’s Veterinary Technology Program. She’ll be graduating and becoming an LVT in 2016, and can’t wait to continue pursuing her dream career. At home, Jenny has a Rhodesian Ridgeback, Pepper, and a Shiba Inu, Luna.
Before Ella graduated from SUNY Canton and became a licensed veterinary technician in 2010, she started out as a kennel attendant in 2005. She worked her way up through the ranks and has recently joined the staff here at The Pets I Love. She has indispensable experience in emergency veterinary medicine from her previous LVT position at Oradell Animal Hospital, in New Jersey. Although she was exceptionally good as an emergency LVT, she is happy to be working in general practice. When Ella is not working she enjoys hiking in Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Preserve. At home, Ella spends quality time with her “furbabies” Wesley, a Chinese Crested, who is more human than canine and her two cats, Ash and Cole.
